CORRYONG

Early morning saw the Cross travel to Corryong - a distance of approx 130 Kilometers up through the hills and timber country.

On reaching St. Michael's Primary School at 0920 the pilgrimage was greeted by Fr. Brian Carey and Josephite Nun, Sister Patricia George, and the proud Principal of St. Michael's, Brendan Attley. The children were delighted to see the cross (and the writer had tears in his eye) to see the joy on their small faces when coming forward to touch the Cross.

WANGARATTA

It was a hard drive to Wangarratta due to inclement weather conditions and Fr. Peter met us outside St Patrick's Church. The Church was full of children, parishioners, Shire Presidents and civic dignitaries. Fr. Peter thanked the Knights for bringing the Cross to Wangaratta so that the Parish could share the experience and to travel so far in difficult driving conditions

NUMURKAH

After dinner we proceeded to the Church. Fr. Frank Jones' homily was terrific. He married the Objects of the Order of the Knights of the Southern Cross as a comparison to the achievements of their Patron, Blessed Mary MacKillop.
To promote the Advancement of Australia, Mary is doing that by becoming Australia's first Saint.
To foster a Christian way of life throughout the Nation, That is exactly what Mary did.
