Care for the Aged
Southern Cross Care (Vic) Inc, founded and sponsored by the Knights of the Southern Cross, provides care to our Senior Citizens. Through our Nursing Home, High and Low Level Hostel Care, Independent Living Units and Community Care Packages (care in the home) we provide high quality care to over 2700 seniors. Southern Cross Care is fully accredited by the Commonwealth.
Funding Seminarians and Priests
Over the last Five Years the Priests Support and Education Fund has raised $200,000 to assist in the education of seminarians and the post-ordination studies of Diocesan Clergy in Victoria. This year the Knights expect to raise another $50,000 at a high profile dinner sponsored by leading Australian businesses.
Fostering the Supporting Charities
St Vincent de Paul Society, Parish activities, Palliative Care, overseas and local missions, are just some of the groups to which the Knights make donations from their fund raising activities. Each year many thousands of Dollars are donated to these vital community activities.
Supporting Education
Many Knights’ Branches fund Scholarships in Parish Schools to assist students progressing from Primary to Secondary level to meet the costs associated with their higher education expenses.
The Knight’s Public Speaking Group conducts Courses at a minimal cost to train students in the art of speaking in public, debating, lecturing, etc. The courses are conducted by dedicated Instructors.
Our motto “Service and Christianity”
More than a Service Organisation, the Knights are an association of Catholic Men dedicated to promoting the Gospel and the Christian Message and values. The Knights of the Southern Cross (Australia) is a member of the International Alliance of Catholic Knights, a worldwide organisation which is officially accredited by the Vatican as a Catholic Lay Organisation.
